Anthony Zator, Conservatory Orchestra, Winds Assistant
A native of the Chicago area, international trumpeter/composer/arranger Anthony Zator began his musical journey at the age of 3 and soon after started working with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. His high school accomplishments led him to continue studying trumpet at DePaul University where he completed his BM. Upon completion of school, Anthony turned his attention to the manufacturing side of the industry, handcrafting trumpets at Schilke Music Products, Inc for five years before moving to the Denver area in 2007 to pursue performance and education opportunities as well as enjoy the majesty Colorado has to offer. Zator joined the Arapahoe Philharmonic in 2010, was named principal trumpet in 2013, and served on the board of directors from 2016-2021. In addition to the AP, he has performed with the Aurora Symphony; dance bands Tunisia, Soul School and Thumpin’; international touring gospel bands House of Should and At the Table with Dr. Martin Luther King; and Latin ensembles Mood Express and Conjunto Colores, among others. Anthony is also an active band leader of the Otone Brass Band, a NOLA funk group, and AZQ, a modern jazz quartet that debuted his original CD, Birth of a Rose, in 2010. In addition to regularly performing, Anthony teaches group trumpet at the middle and high school level, directs a jazz combo, teaches music theory and music business along with private lessons at Denver School of the Arts, an affiliation he has had since 2009.
