Concerto Competitions
Young Artists Orchestra, Conservatory Orchestra, and String Ensemble hold annual concerto competitions in which members showcase their solo repertoire. The winner of the competition has the distinction of performing their concerto with their ensemble at the spring concert. Each year, approximately 40 orchestra members undertake the challenge. As of 2016, the Young Artists Orchestra competition is dedicated to John Livingston, whose vision in the arts led, in part, to the formation of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. In 2014, the Young Artists Orchestra (YAO) started a separate winds/brass only concerto competition to take place at the fall retreat, to be performed with the Young Artists Orchestra Chamber Orchestra.
Auditions are open to DYAO participants. For more questions, please contact our Orchestra Manager, Rachael DeLange.
