Laura Lambrech is the Winner of this Season's YAO Wind Concerto Competition

Oboist Laura Lambrech, age seventeen, is a senior at Palmer Ridge High School in Monument, Colorado. Coming from a musical family with two younger brothers, Laura began music studies at the age of three, taking Suzuki piano lessons with Carol Schneider and continuing to study the piano with her current teacher, Hannah Krening.  But her biggest passion has been the oboe, which she has been studying for the past seven years with Nancy Brown.

She was a member of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony for five years, before joining the Denver Young Artists Orchestra for the past two years.

Laura’s middle school band, under the direction of John Patterson, is what first inspired her love of playing with an ensemble. In high school, Laura continued playing in band and loves it. Laura currently plays with the Palmer Ridge Wind Ensemble (oboe) and Symphonic Winds (clarinet), both under the direction of Raleigh (Butch) Eversole.

She also enjoys participating in extra music activities such as pit orchestra, pep band, accompanying other students, solo & ensemble, various All-City, All-State, CU Honor Band festivals, and the Lamont and Idyllwild Summer Music festivals.  For the last two years, Laura has been spending time working with new oboe students.  Laura is excited to pursue a degree in oboe performance.

She would like to thank her teachers, family and band, and symphony friends for their constant love and support.  She would not be where she is today without them.

Don't miss YAO's upcoming Suite(ly) Dancing, where she will be a featured soloist.
