2021 Senior Spotlight - Michael Young

Let's continue the string love today as we spotlight Michael Young!

Michael is a graduating Senior from Jefferson County.  A member of DYAO for 5 seasons, Michael has played with all three of DYAO's ensembles: String Ensemble (1 season), Conservatory Orchestra (2 seasons), and the Young Artists Orchestra (2 seasons).  Currently a violinist with YAO, Michael is a student of Margaret Gutierrez.  Upon graduating, Michael plans to move west and study Violin Performance at Azusa Pacific University in California.

When asked what DYAO has meant to him, he replied: "DYAO has been a place where I have felt free to express myself musically and has been a place where I have been truly appreciated. DYAO does an amazing job challenging kids musically, while at the same time growing their self-confidence. I felt like I grew immensely from String Ensemble all the way to YAO. I have absolutely had a blast playing for DYAO throughout the years. Going on retreats and performing on tour in Europe have all been additionally amazing experiences. DYAO has meant so much to me, and I am so sad to say goodbye!"

It's never goodbye, friend!  You will always be a part of the DYAO Legacy.
