Artist Statement

I've always¬Ýseen art as a way to look at things differently or in a new way.¬Ý Art has a way of showing you alternate possibilities. With my violin I wanted to transform it into¬Ýa piece that had a style incongruous¬Ýto what a violin typically represents. Covering it in¬Ýshards of glass, bright colors, and¬Ýtiny mirrors¬Ýwill hopefully give people hundreds of possibilities¬Ýto¬Ýsee¬Ýa violin, and themselves, in¬Ýnew ways. This piece was inspired by Chad Hacker.

While having almost no formal training in art, Kevin Kowalczyk¬Ýhas always¬Ýbeen inspired¬Ýart. Except for one¬Ýart¬Ýclass at Metro State University ten years ago, Kevin's been self taught. Working in oil and mixed media he¬Ýtends to make¬Ýpieces that somehow transform objects. Pop culture, music, architecture, and fashion¬Ýall influence Kevin's style. Kevin's work has previously¬Ýbeen shown at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver as well as the Rialto's Cafe's art gallery.
