Director of Development & Events - Full Time

Position Title:  Director of Development & Events
Reports to:     Executive Director

The mission of the Denver Young Artists Orchestra Association (DYAO) is to provide the finest possible youth orchestra programs, inspiring and educating young musicians through the performance of great works of music and offering valuable cultural opportunities to the community. The Director of Development is responsible to direct the coordination and realization of the Development programs on behalf of DYAO’s goals and objectives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementation of fundraising goals and objectives as set forth by the DYAO Board of Directors; short term and long term fund development; and working in partnership with the Executive Director to develop strategic partnerships and leveraging opportunities that can enhance the organization’s abilities to raise funds. 

Elements of this job include: 

  • Managing all Development campaigns including individuals, corporations, foundations, and governments
  • Managing all fundraising events for the organization
  • Establishing budget goals for Development activities
  • Keeping database up-to-date and entering information about development activities.
  • Keeping a roster of active volunteers for assistance with development tasks
  • Attending Board and Board Committee meetings
  • Marketing activities including advertising sales in the DYAO annual program book, social media, news media, and DYAO website.

Qualified candidates will have/be:

  • College degree, preferably in non-profit business management, or professional experience equivalent.
  • A warm and positive attitude
  • Project management skills with the ability to delegate tasks to others
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Goals oriented and fiscally conscious
  • Collaborative and driven
  • Familiarity with various software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), SalesForce, Quickbooks, Joomla, and Constant Contact.
